"Spiritual Wear"

Every morning we wake, we spring to our closets to find right outfit that will make us “POP” for the day! The outfit that will bring us many respects, a little attention from the men/ladies, or simply a boost of self-confidence to make it through the day. We make sure everything is color coordinated, right accessories, shoes, and that one last splash to make our fits OH SO SWEET! Majority of the time we have to make ourselves look our best to avoid the many whispers of criticism from our peers.
As I was doing my daily reading, I thought about how concerned we are about daily wear that we totally neglect our “spiritual” wear. The bible says in Colossians 3:12 (NLT), “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted, mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. We spend plenty hours on our outer appearance and undervalue the importance of our spiritual wear. It is extremely essential that we care for our spiritual clothing just as we would anything else.
I remember prior to finding that new life in Christ I was full of anger, bitterness, selfishness, envy, and several other sinful things that came along with being a part of this world. Now that my life is no longer a part of this world, I released myself from the sinful nature and put on my new nature. During this specific moment of my life, I am continually renewed as I seek to learn more about our Creator. The instant I had an inner transformation there was also an outer manifestation.
It is amazing at how detailed we can be with our everyday outfits that only give people a thrill that we cannot take the time to invest in our spiritual wear. When you look at Ephesians 4: 21-24 (NLT) you find, “Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let that the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, crated to be like God-truly righteous and holy. What we learn about Christ is the truth that comes from him. He calls his people to an entirely new way of life. We have all been set free from the old and called to live as Gods holy people. The time has come for us to begin filling our spiritual closets so that we can clothe ourselves in such a way that will reflect our new life in Christ.
Let us as believers remember not to solely focus on the daily look but to spend a great amount of time in dressing up spiritually. We must actively turn from our old habits and live in the new. Oh, before I leave you do not forget your “splash” of love. This is the one we are all shielded about putting on, but Colossians 3:14 (NLT) says, “ABOVE all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. Please be mindful that your spiritual clothing means a lot more to your peers than all your other worldly goods.
